involves the research, development and demonstration of natural gas engines and fueling technology. Following a prioritized ranking of R&D
goals, the

Partnership intends to:

• Initiate programs to integrate natural gas engines into more medium- and heavy-duty platforms.

• Initiate multi-year engine research and development programs to achieve 2007 emissions and match higher-horsepower ratings of large on-road diesels.

• Encourage legislative/California Public Utilities Commission mandate that increases funding for public-purpose research for NGVs.

• Lead national NGV research efforts on engine development and emissions reductions.

Create a bridge to zero-emission hydrogen-fueled vehicles.

With the rising cost of petroleum-based gasoline and diesel fuel, tougher emission standards and the growing public demand for better environmental policies, natural gas vehicles provide an attractive alternative with
a multitude of key advantages.
